Walking as an exercise


The most basic modes of transportation for human beings is walking, and we have forgotten this walking in the outside world where the afternoon sun is at 40degrees. We have invented fast moving cars and as faster cars came so also their size increased and the fight for parking spaces have begun. One good thing happenned out of this the creation of watchman jobs while the car owners park the cars, the watchmen have to look after these and a small scratch the watchman is abused like hell.

Walking as a mode of transportation is possible if there is some shade even in the scorching sun. But alas, the cars and bikes want more space and hence the old trees are cut, foot path is removed so that these vechicle owners can move freely in the roads. These vehicle owners have no respect for the pedestrians and keep honking the horn if any man comes in their way and sometimes hit them and still face no action. Strange, first they create crime by hitting a person, and also a continuous source of pollution.

The people are now walking in the gardens, AC indoor stadiums, well maintained outdoor stadiums because the doctor have advised them to do so. These people dress to the occassion and walk never realizing that this necessicity has come because of the craving for  the luxury of cars throught the time they were young, and leave the planet more polluted. Those who cannot afford a car have only to suffer and even the government encourages people to buy more cars and bikes while the roads are designed for the movement of private vehicles even for one kilometer distance. What a waste of natural resources.

By planting trees, increasing and improving the bus services within the city limits and creating no car zones in many areas like the commercial streets the ego of the luxury craving rich can be brought down and make them understand what loss have done to the society due to their indifference, and these people can press the corporation to make for better facilities.

Walking should be done with joy and for the fun sake to travel and not just because doctor has told us to do. The walking should be done on the regular streets so that we can know better whats there in our locality and not in AC gyms, drinking getarode but having tender coconuts.
